a display on my HTC M8, show a rolodex style of open app?

My HTC M8 recently upgraded itself and since then ,every now and then when i pick up my phone, the screen has a Rolodex style of open windows and apps, that you can scroll throug.. what is that feature? and I cannot ever access it when i want to? what feature is that/?have tried to find it on my own, but cannot. it seems to open now and then?

Another question, is , when I make a call on my phone, a screen flashes right after pushing call. looks like call choices, ie, conference, 2way and a few others ,but it disaapperars to fast to make choices just reverts to the speaker and mute choices. what is that screen, and why does it go away immediately?

Welcome to Android Central! That is the Recent Apps list, and is brought up when you tap the rightmost soft navigation button (the one that looks like two rectangles, one on top of the other). It shows you what apps you've recently used, and allows you to switch easily between apps. It's not a task manager or task killer, as some may think (although swiping away an app will sometimes stop its background processes).

Not sure about the call menu--you could look for a menu button while on a call (usually looks like 3 vertical dots).

found it ! yes, that is why when I just pick up my phone , there they are! never knew i was swiping that small icon to open this thank you!

Now, if you have an HTC, next time you push the phone icon to call someone stare at the the display, you should see that screen flash rthen go to the one with mute and speaker. looks like it says mute one w\-way 2-way ? with little icons but it disappears immediately? just curious have not found any reference to those icons. unless they are just telling you what the phone is doing at the moment ?
