hi, i'm new to android and just switched over from the palm pre. I using the evo right now and i have a few questions

1. How can i access full websites? If i go to nfl.com or espn.com i keep getting the mobile site. Will 2.2 and the flash beta plug in fix this?

2. The youtube app on this is suppose to be HQ but when i compared it to my palm pre's video quality it wasn't as clear or sharp. I tried watching videos on 4g and wifi and both times the quality wasn't as clear as my pre. (maybe the pre just has a better youtube app?)

3. How do i turn off HTC sense? I saw the video on youtube of the guy turning it on from stock but i can't figure out for the life of me how to turn it off.

1. In the web browser, hit menu>more options>settings> and un-check the box that says mobile view. (android 2.1 from on hero, should be the same though)

2. no idea.

3. here's phils official youtube link, YouTube - Sprint Evo 4G without Sense

how did you get a evo already? I/O?

i couldn't wait anymore so i just bought one off ebay. I'm still in contract with sprint so i would've had to pay full price for it anyway. Anyway thanks for answering number 1! it was driving me crazy

yeah, i was able to turn it off thanks. it's a shame that you can't keep the htc widgets though because i really liked the Clock/weather one

2. Do you have 4g service? I watched a video review, and it said that the HQ version did not work unless you were connected to 4g

yeah i do have 4g here. I live in philadelphia. the HQ version launches by default when i'm in 4g, but if i'm in 3g i have to manually click HQ for it. Still the quality is not as clear as i'd hoped it to be. 4G is extremely fast when i have full bars, but that usually only happens if i'm outside. If i'm inside it usually bounce between 3g and 4g. I'm hoping sprint does something to increase the reliability of their 4g service.

Make sure the video you are trying to watch has a HQ version available. Check the actual Youtube page and compare the quality. Keep in mind the Pre's screen is smaller, so the video may look sharper.

the hq youtube version on the pre looks ALOT sharper and clearer. It's pretty obvious if you compare the two next to each other. The pre looks almost identical to the the desktop youtube players while the evo's youtube hq videos looks more dull and choppy even in HQ mode(in regular quality it's horrible). I've watch different movie trailers like transformers and ninja assassin (both have support for 480p & 720p) and I've compared the evo to the pre to the desktop video quality and i'm quite disappointed with the new youtube player :[

so it's nothing like this? Viddler.com - HTC EVO 4G YouTube HQ test - Uploaded by engadget it looks pretty smooth to me

wow his quality looks sooo clear! all my hq videos look nothing like that... and i've been using it all day checking out different stuff on youtube and i haven't seen anything as clear or smooth as what he got... anyone else with a evo not seeing quality like that?

thats weird... even through wifi it plays like crap?

actually i just searched up the same video he was playing (cupcake cannon) and my quality looked about the same as his, but i compared it to my palm pre and my pre still looked better. The color is brighter and it's more clear, almost as clear as the desktop version. I think the pre's youtube player was just built better (it's definitely not because of the smaller screen size). Can anyone with a pre + evo do a comparison for me?
