A Great new use for the FingerPrint Scanner - LastPass

Well, I've been using Last pass on my Office for my 40+ users, it's a great little plugin/App that helps saving those passwords from the tons of Websites. Finally last night they released a new Android version to add support for the S5 fingerprint, it works great, and so far it seems that the reviewers are very happy and finally found a way to like the FingerPrint implementation, I downloaded the app and so far I'm moving from SafeInCloud app to this one already, simply because in order to keep all my Passwords (around 40) safe I needed another password, so if someone was able to guess that one, then the aftermath of that would be a huge issue, but with this implementation that is corrected and it works great.

So for those of you in need of something similar, take a look atthis app and see if you want to spend the annual $12 for the premium version.

What I don't understand is ..... Why do I have to pay $12 a year for my phone but it's free on my computer . That makes no sense .

They have to make money somehow? Lots of companies start with a model where desktop is free and charge for mobile (Spotify did this) until the ad revenue is enough to be able to offer it for free everywhere.

Edit: A lot of companies will also do something like this to get you hooked. Free on the computer, you love it, they offer it for mobile and charge a premium for being able to have it on the go.

As far as I could understand, the Premium version is the one that allow the finger print scanning, I swear I read it somewhere on one of the articles announcing the new version.

it's great to use the fingerprint scanner until someone hacks your systems and steals your fingerprint scans and has your left index finger fingerprint...for the rest of your life.

You have a better chance of winning the lottery than someone purposly coming after you attempting to steal your fingerprints so they can access your LastPass account and get your passwords to all those random websites you have accounts on.

Then tell me what's the solution for a guy like me that needs over 40 different passwords to fulfill my work duties and my personal stuff?, as far as I know you have just 4 different options:

1- Rely on your memory, kind of hard even when you are young, for me, now 42 is beginning to be too hard.
2- Writing them down on a paper and keep it safe, ehh, no comments needed.
3- Having them on an App like SafeCloud that store them on the cloud but you need a pin or password to access them. Well that's easier for someone close to you or even managed to overlook you entering the pin to crack, and even worst, then I need another password to remember.
4- Having LastPass with FingerPrint scanning and 2 factor authentication, I need a password first, then you can set every single record to open with just your fingerprint.

I don't know for you, but for me is pretty clear what's the best and safest solution.

I'm happy it's working for you.

I'd just be cognizant in using your fingerprint on systems that may or may not be highly secure.

Does last pass use and only work its own built in browser?

If so, that won't fly with me since most third party browsers suck compared to chrome

No, you can change that on the app settings, obviously, I'm using Chrome right now.
