For 9 months I've been following protocols and stuff, it's really frustrating that the covid cases are going up because of some people who don't know how to wear a mask and do social distancing. If people will continue to be careless, then we will never flatten the curve.

A Limited Stay at Home Order has been issued in California, non-essential work and gatherings must stop from 10 pm-5 am in counties in the purple tier. This will take effect at 10 pm on Saturday and remain for 1 month.

How's the situation in your area now?

Me and my wife followed all the rules and still got covid-19, it was delivered right to our door... literally :( We live 18 miles out of town as well. It's spreading fast in the rural areas now too.... friends that live an hour and a half away from us have also got it, and we haven't seen them in months. I hate to say it but I think it's going to be hard to avoid  On the plus side it's nasty, but I've had the regular flu that's been just as bad, except covid has given us some unusual side effects like a nasty rash and huge blisters for my wife, and a small blister-like swelling on my eye that might require surgery if it doesn't go away on its own.

And this thing takes forever to go away :-\

When we first got this I thought oh #@$% at least one of us is going to die... we're both in our 50's, but now we're kinda glad we're getting it over with. It sucks to live in fear :( Be careful B

I fully expected this in a rollercoaster effect and believe virus is going to spread regardless. What states did was lock down until numbers improved. Once that happened, they opened up again, knowing full well the virus was still out there, and of course infection numbers rose again. So now they are all wanting to shut back down, and this rollercoaster of opening and closing will likely continue until the virus has ran its course.

Regarding the mask debate, Wisconsin put that mandate in place in August. We had almost full compliance, but as if on cue, the numbers spiked 2 weeks later when they had been trending down prior to the mandate. I don't buy into masks as the silver bullet, and efforts to slow the spread only prolongs the pandemic.

I live in MN and work in ND, I'm surrounded by conspiracy theorists that still insist Covid is a hoax or that wearing masks are communist government control that strips away our freedoms. Members of law enforcement here flat out state they won't enforce mask mandates and our bars and restaurants are still packed.

We have the highest death rate not only in the United States, but globally. CDC has recently used us as an example of what happens when you resist mask mandates.

I'm also working close to 70 hours a week to cover for people missing at work due to covid.

Actually to be honest, other than the fact no stores are 24/7 anymore and some private businesses require face masks to be worn, nothing has really changed in ND all year. Even in the Spring ND only shut down for a week and was one of the last states to do so. Even during that, bars were still open and the government didn't enforce it.

MN has done alot more to enforce things, MN is going into lock down again.

Oh man, sorry to hear about that J! I'm so glad it wasn't worse for you, though.:)

Regarding masks, I would say that if everyone truly followed the recommendations and wore them CORRECTLY whenever they were around anyone, then transmission would go down. But all you have to do is walk around any establishment and see people with their noses poking out above their masks -- might as well not have a mask on in the first place. Seeing a spike despite a mask mandate doesn't necessarily mean that masks don't work (and no, I don't subscribe to the very small minority of studies that suggest they don't work either).

B thanks for the well wishes :D We know it could have been worse, and I'm incredibly thankful we both survived mostly intact. The only person we dealt with who wasn't wearing a mask (we were) was a younger guy who brought a meat delivery out to our house.... between the handling of the boxes and signing receipts that was all the contact it took for us to catch it. We work from home and hadn't seen anyone for weeks before that. Fortunately we live healthy, take supplements, and stay in pretty good shape...... otherwise I can see how this disease is killing folks. It gets a grip on you and doesn't let go, like it's trying to wear your immune system down through sheer attrition

I am very concerned about a friend of ours though, she's not doing so good, and she's in her late 30's :( but she's a burn the candle at both ends kind of lady

I'm having major surgery December 10, I'm negative for now, getting another test December 3, so currently I am being ultra careful.
Honestly it suits me fine, i absolutely loathe big gatherings, creepy uncle Bob and mega annoying auntie gertrude, I've always gone out of my way to avoid them, so restrictions are making me very happy, right now.

I hope everything goes well with your surgery

Thank you. Hopefully I'll remember NOT to post while I'm on painkillers... Opiates turn me into a moderator's nightmare
Hahahaha, I'll make sure I'm not on that day , thanks for heads up lol

I live in the UK. We have been in partial lockdown (and a month of full lockdown) since September. Now we have a mutant strain with 23 different mutations and the world has shut its border to us. Because selfish people won't follow the rules and keep doing their own thing.

I feel as if we are next in Alabama. One last icu bed was used within an hour for the entire state. As of that newscast we only had 40 more ventilators in the state to use. Of course our numbers have increased since then, January 1st.

I expect a lock down soon...😢
