I actually have a few questions I would like to be answered before I decide to root my Nexus S 4g:

1. If I unlock my bootloader, does my phone's sd card (or usb storage as it is called) gets deleted?

2. If I want to install superuser, do I have to install a custom recovery?

3. If I install a custom recovery can I still get the OTA update for Ice Cream Sandwich when it gets released?

Please answer my question. Thanks in advance!

1-yes mass storage gets wiped, as does the phones contents. Make a backup of the sd on your computer. If u feel the need to back up your apps, I believe my backup pro can take care of that for you.

2-you need superuser to install a custom recovery........ highly recomend a custom recovery......

3- if you are on a stock based rom or stock, I believe yes. Of course, I'm pretty sure a rooted stock ICS rom will be up shortly after the first OTA's roll out :)

And there is a nice one-click available that will unlock, root and add cwm recovery for you.....

Good luck!

Long days and pleasant nights............
