Samsung tends to ship phones early to those that preorder -- though typically people don't start getting them until the Monday before release day.

I've never gotten a pre order early in Canada. I don't even know why I do it. More than once I've pre ordered something and then had to wait a week after release to get it. At that point I could have just gone to best buy and got it.
