Updated my S10e with june update on Verizon, however I must of got lucky.....No password required however I have never set any security to begin with.

Is this software for the June software update? I updated mine the day after I got mine (I got my S10+ about 2 weeks ago) and it didn't require me to use a password to update or after the update.

I have Spectrum carrier.

You wouldn't if you kept the phone backed up. Imagine if Google said "Sorry, all your data is gone because one of our hard drives went".

If everything is backed up, do a factory reset, get into the phone and restore everything.

You can't keep Samsung from sending out defective updates, but you can keep from losing important data.

I back up with Verizon, which means it's not really backed up. I always lose something. A lack of full backup is something I can't even begin to understand with these phones.

In my opinion, an app or service that doesn't allow you to backup or sync information somewhere else that's reliable and easily accessible is not a very good app. For me:

1. Photos on auto-backup to Google Photos
2. Important documents to Google Drive or Keep Notes
3. Contacts synced to Google Contacts
4. Hangouts and Telegram have their chats synced to a cloud server
5. Movies synced to Movies Anywhere (and therefore accessible in Google Play Movies, Vudu, Amazon Video, etc.)
6. LastPass synced to their server

SMS messages are theoretically backed up as part of the Google system backup -- I think it works pretty well, but I've never paid close attention to it, because I generally don't consider SMS threads crucial data. If there's an important phone number or other piece of information I receive in a text message, I enter it somewhere else like Google Contacts, Drive, Keep, etc.

I can understand how game enthusiasts would be upset if game progress were lost, but that's something to take up with the game developers -- encourage them to include a cloud save feature, or to make the save game files easy to identify and back up.

Re: cant get past unlock phone

Updated my S10 this morning. Brand new phone. Can't get back in. It won't accept the PIN (and no, it's the correct PIN). After trying various suggestions, restarts, etc., I opted for the Factory Reset. However, I can't even turn off the phone without getting past the PIN screen. It's been suggested I let the battery die and then restart in Recovery Mode. Any better suggestions while I wait for the battery to die?

Force shut down by holding power/bixby/volume same time down until phone turns off

Re: cant get past unlock phone

Thank you! Back in business. Next step: restoring lost data via SmartSwitch (again). This time I won't be installing the update.

have the s10 + on Verizon just got a update here on 10/28/19 no problems with pass word update version G975USQ2BSIO

If you try a password too many times it locks you out and you have to call your network and get a PUK code from them to unlock it... Only thing I can think of before phone boots if it's not asking for google account password..... I should have read a few posts up lol... Awesome you got it!

It's none of those things. It's the phone's password itself that isn't working after the update
