I'm looking at getting a Veloster Turbo that has a 7 inch screen. There are a 3.5 A/V jack as well as a USB jack for inputs on the console. Hyundai also supplies a RCA component cable that plugs into the 3.5" jack for portable DVD's players. I know that I can't just plug the data cable that shipped with the S5 into the USB and view video on the monitor. As I understand it, it has to do with the HDMI spec and the way Samsung has designed the phone. So my question is this, can I get an A/V signal from the 3.5" jack on the top of the phone and just run that into the 3.5" jack in the car? I've heard that some people have used a MHL to HDMI adapter and then a HDMI to RCA adapter but they were using Android phones other than the S5. I'll do that if I have to but if there is a simpler solution without a ridiculous amount of cables, I would definitely prefer that. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

My simpler solution doesn't involve hooking up the S5 directly:
I got the cheapest Roku (I think it's the LT for about $35 or so on Amazon). I just keep it hooked up in the van and then when we use it I just turn on the WiFi hotspot on my phone (I use FoxFi). Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and all the others work fine. It has been working great for over a year. I actually just upgraded one in the house to a Roku 3, so I replaced the one in the van with the XS I had in the house. Now I am able to keep the Roku in the storage under the floor and just run the cables out to the inputs. The XS has a Bluetooth remote so it works great and keeps the box out of the way.

Before the Roku, my solution was one of the original Droid Incredibles that had the RCA out cables. I just connected it by WiFi to my hotspot and could run all the same apps on the screen. Not as neat of a solution as the Roku, but the DINC did let me use my Slingbox where I can't with the Roku.

Does it have Blue tooth ? If so you can connect the phone through Bluetooth . If you're talking about watching video while driving that's a no no . I love pulling up along side jerks doing things they aren't suppose to be doing while driving and scaring the crap out of them . Nothing like blasting the horn of my jeep when your next to their door or Revving the bike engine to 10000 rpm next to them when they are doing 65 and texting . People tend to jump out of their skin cause they are so engrossed in what they are doing instead of paying attention to their driving . :p:p

Knew this was coming, LOL. Anyhoo, I'm going to be driving to NY from NC for Thanksgiving and the video is for the passenger's. I neither have a death wish nor a desire to spend the rest of my days in a vegatative state.
