Read an article on phandroid that Acer will have sold 1 million a500 tabs this quarter, easily besting the over priced zoom...not including the consistently sold out Asus transformer and it looks like android tabs are well on their way to dominating the tab market like the phone market.....team Google!

Acer Iconia Tablet is a Hit! Bad News? May Suffer From Shortages

Sorry for not making it a clickable link...dunno how from tablet ;)

I saw this too, was awesome to read. Hope this helps us get some more developer support. Wish we could get an insider with Acer like the Asus guys did.

whats the details with this Asus insider? But ya, developer support is what came to mind after reading that article since at the moment their is 64 tablet apps in market....hey fumetsu, are you rooted? Benefits you see so far with ur iconia? Thx Acer bro

And to think, I almost didn't go with the Acer (not a huge fan of the company), but the working USB port sold me on it. w00! Let's hope this gets us some dev love!

Someone on XDA managed to get ahold of someone higher up in ASUS Tech Support who gave him his direct email address and told him to relay any issues with the Transformer from people on XDA, since they know we're all power users, so they can take steps to fix them with later updates. He pointed out how little their T1 reps knew about the Transformer and Android in general so they figured they could get more detailed info on issues from people who use Android all the time.

I'm not rooted yet but probably will be soon. Aside from Astro I haven't really needed it for anything since no one has cracked the bootloader yet, but I probably will bite the bullet in the next couple of days or so. The big draw for me was the full USB port. We're going to reap more benefits than the Asus and Xoom guys once we get USB support with 3.1. The Transformer only has a full port when docked and i don't believe the Xoom has a full port at all. I'm just thinking of keyboard/mouse/game controller and flash drive capabilities that give the Iconia the advantage over the other available tabs.

Acer also mentioned they're working on a dock with HDMI out and remote control for hooking the Iconia up to a big screen and still being able to control it wirelessly.

I see great things coming if Acer keeps up with timely updates and accessory support and i think the sales figures will encourage them. I also think they're cozying up with Google since they and Samsung are the first two OEMs that will release Chromebooks. Fingers crossed! :D
