Hi I have had my Droid all of 3 days and had to start playing.

I rooted it just fine and tried installing the Gingerbread ROM only to have it stick on the M Logo. So, reinstalled the backup and all is good. Then tried, the CM 7 and CM 6 ROMs only to have the same issue with not getting past the M logo after reboot. I am back to the original ROM and works fine.

I really want to flash a new ROM though, any ideas? Remember I am a NOOB.

Thanks

I am sorry I posted the above to the Intro forum. I realize this is not the right place, but you got my intro any way. Can I delete it and move it?

I am very new to Android, though my wife has had the Droid 2 for nearly a year now for the sake of our marriage I would never attempt any mods on her phone. I love tinkering so I picked up a Droid 1 for fun and love it! Don't miss my Blackberry one bit.

make sure after you back up your current set-up (which you did) to do a full wipe. After wipe then flash ROM. Also make sure you are flashing the correct ROM for your model (you'd be surprised)

Sometimes people are flashing the Google Apps instead of the ROM itself so that could cause your handset to not boot.

So to wrap it up. Back-up, do a complete wipe, Flash ROM.

**WHEN FLASHING CM MAKE SURE YOU ARE FLASHING ROM FIRST NOT THE GOOGLE APPS PACKAGE**

thanks for the info. I have not downloaded Google Apps so doubt that is it. Will give it another shot.

Just to give more info, here is my phone info as it sits in ABOUT:

Model DROID ANDROID ver. 2.2.2 Baseband C_-1.43.01P Kernal 2.6.32.9-g68eeef5 android-build@apa26 #1 Build number FRG83G

Yes, thats as you know, a Froyo build with stock kernel.

If you are not having any luck after doing what I suggested. Post the link to the CM download and let me know what recovery you are using. Occasionaly with Clockwork you have to flash the ROM a couple of times. I use RZ's Recovery, which is similar to SPRecovery because it's VERY reliable. Never a bad install and very easy to use.

Hopefully you got it to work.....

CM7 is a great ROM, not without it's bugs, but none the less a great ROM. I use it on my Droid and I wish Moto would provide an unlock key so I could get it on my DroidX, but doubt that will ever happen.

My personal favorite is Project Elite. Its Froyo but its stable and bug free. Stock theme is real nice, great battery life no redraws. Its been perfect.

Sent from my Droid

So I have been through several roms and I tried cm first but never could get past the boot M. I bet this is the exact problem I had. Im going to try and install it 2x before giving up lol. Glad I ran across this post.

I've never got stuck at the M logo after flashing a ROM, only when experimenting with kernels. You have a very weird problem.

What are the exact steps your trying? Post them in a numbered sequence, and I'll try to figure out what your doing wrong.
