AA cannot connect

Note I'm a beta tester for Google Maps and that might be partially to blame, but it seems as if I program a route into Google Maps before connecting to my car, in the past all I needed to do was to tap on the Google Maps icon and I'd be under route. Note I'd have to not only program a route but be navigating it.

But now when I do that I cannot connect to AA at all. If I tap the projection icon the AA icon will appear, my phone will flicker and the AA icon on my dashboard will go away. I will not be able to connect. This seems to be repeatable and what's more is if I instead go into Google Maps on the phone and exit that route then I can connect (but I need to test this more).

Anybody else experiencing this?

Guess it's just me. Just wanted to report that it sometimes will not connect but it has nothing to do with having a route already programmed. i.e. it happens sometimes without a route programmed.

I've had AA lose it's connection and sometimes it has a hard time making the connection. When it happens I move the USB cable to the other outlet (my car has two), and that usually fixes it. When that doesn't work I reboot the phone. I don't think it has anything to do with Maps, I usually select the destination via AA with either voice or typing it in, when I do it from the phone first I then select it from history on AA. I am running Maps Beta also and Android 7.0. I've been running Nougat betas since DP2 so I have very little experience with Marshmallow on AA because I only used it for a few weeks before I switched to Nougat.
