Abnormal Network

I have a security system alarm app (Vivint) on my phone and in that app you can control the temperature, lock/unlock the doors, and look at the security cameras. Would this be considered ip cameras or is an ip camera something not through an app?

I also have a baby monitor app, that I can watch my child on. Does that count?

Yes. Security cameras and your baby monitor camera are all IP cameras. IP means internet protocol. It is part of the Internet of Things (IoT). It is possible two or more of your cameras have an IP conflict. Meaning they have the same IP address. Each device on a network must have its own IP and name, other wise you get IP or name conflicts which cause network problems.

this I did not know. I have two sec cams but I'm pretty sure they each have their own ip and name.

Normally they do. If you are running DHCP on your router, then IP conflicts should not happen. The devices name is usually pre-configured at the factory and should not cause a name conflict.

However, most devices allow the user to change the name or IP or both. If person is not aware of basic networking practices or is careless, he or she could name more than one device the same name either through carelessness or ignorance. This can cause a conflict. In the case of IoT devices, a poorly written app can give an erroneous error like, "abnormal network." This is can be exacerbated if the app writer doesn't speak English that well.

Interesting , well I'll keep track of the errors and if it happens again I'll delete one app than if it happens I'll add the other back and delete that one and see what happens. I'll also reset my router, I do have my network set to dhcp.

I took my note 10+ back today and after 4 hours of waiting and best buy calling several different people I got another blue note, I had to drive over a hour away to another best buy because the one around the corner I originally used only had black.

Somehow or another they gave me a $600 credit for my original trade in when I exchanged instead of $300. The girl also told me she was giving me $200 credit because that was the current deal. So I went from the phone costing me $899 to $299. My monthly payment went from $31 down to $12 so there was a silver lining . I made sure I had a new sim card as well just to rule that out as well.
