about cell phone and smartphone

Going back to Sets in Algebra - All Smart Phones are Cell Phones, but not all Cell Phones are Smart Phones.

The key difference is that all "cellular" devices can make or receive calls using the cellular network. Your basic “free” flip phone and the $200 Smart phone can both make calls. The difference is the data. The “free” cell phone will not be able to use the data network to the extent that the Smart Phone can. Things like web browsing and downloading robust client applications are the domain of the Smart Phone. Basic voice, text and simple data is the domain of the “cell phone.”

Hope this helps.

PS – I purposely left out Tablets because they are “Smart” without “Voice!” Yet another wrinkle in the “set.”

Smartphones Have a Mobile Operating System

You can think of a smartphone like a miniature computer that can also place

and receive calls. Though there lacks an industry-standard definition of a

smartphone, the simplest way to tell a cell phone apart from a smartphone is

to determine whether or not the device has a mobile operating system.

Cell phones can typically send and receive text, picture and video messaging.

Many cell phones can email, too. Smartphones, though, typically go a step

further by syncing with the email server of your personal or corporate

provider.

Looks like a poem^ lol. Smartphones will always include a data package. they'll usually have a full keyboard as well, not just a number pad. that's another way of determining. you'll know for the most part. smartphones are more expensive all around. from ETF's to monthly bills to insurance. if your next question is whether you need one or not, that will be based on the demands of your lifestyle. chances are a smartphone will allow you to do more things on the go, possibly simplifying your life. think of it as a personal assistant, where as a regular cell phone is just a phone.
