??? about rooting

Ok so I want to root with the one click zip and now here is my ? and my about phone.
Firmware-2.1 update 1
Baseband- S:i500.04V.DI01
Kernel - 2.6.29
Build- sch-I500.DH12
What do i need to do after rooting to get DJ05 so i can get the roms, I know to dl titanium and I believe clockworkmod Rom manager also ? but after that iam kinda lost, dunno if i need to have a certian kernel or just back up and try to flash a rom.
