About the ThunderBolt and simultaneous 3G voice & 3G data

Besides Richard's example... I can't see how often someone actually needs to use voice and data at the same time. I personally can't think of one time I needed to do that. I guess thats just me. Its an awesome feature to have and one I'll be thankful for when I finally get into that situation.

Having access to Email is the only *real* time I've wished (or was thankful I was in a WiFi area) I had simultaneous data and voice, just like Richards example. I understand AT&T's marketing ploy, but very rarely do I hear people needing it for anything other than that purpose.

I understand some people have, but it's not as often as some might think.

Yeah email really is the only thing. I've had to do that many times on my ATT device and then realized I only had EDGE and couldn't do it and began cursing my device.
ATT should put a disclaimer on that voice+data thing saying it can only be used on 20% of their network. It's really not an advantage. If I'm in town I have a computer in front of me(or at lunch I have wifi as stated above....). I only need voice+data when I am traveling and when I am traveling I rarely have AT&T 3G......

You bring up a good point, actually. I forgot it's not possible over their EDGE network. So yeah now that I think about it, it's only going to work where you have AT&T 3G (which in some states is completely nonexistant).

Exactly. It is only possible if they maintain a 3G signal (which isn't a sure thing, lol).

Verizon Completes First Commercial VoLTE Call (Phone Scoop)

posted Today, 5:49 PM by Eric M. Zeman

Verizon Wireless today announced that it made the first successful voice-over-LTE call using a commercially deployed network. The call was made from its headquarters in Baskin Ridge, N.J., using the LG Revolution, on February 8. Verizon says the first call lasted for 33 seconds, and on subsequent calls participants were able to browse the web and download applications from the Android Market while speaking to one another. Verizon Wireless said that it will spend 2011 working to optimize and enhance the performance of VoLTE. It won't deploy VoLTE commercially until 2012.

Okay, so simultaneous voice and data over 3G is my favorite feature on this phone. It is SO NICE!

It's fast too, not slow like the OP suggested it would be.

I am in an area where LTE is completely live yet, only in certain parts of town. We should have LTE across the entire market soon, so that will be exciting.

Just wanted to say simultaneous voice and data over 3G rocks! They need to implement this on every phone.

Oh yeah, and the VZW reps didn't know this feature existed. Amazing.

Damn it is fast. I am seeing no noticeable speed difference while on a call.

Same here and I was using the hell out it playing around showing off to a friend of mine. He has and loves his Droid 2 and was thinking of getting this phone so I had to rub it in a little bit.:D:D
