About to make purchase, 8.4 or 10.5???

Hi, I’m trying to decide between a Tab S 8.4 or a Tab S 10.5. I’ve tried out each at Best Buy and was initially leaning towards the 8.4 since it felt a bit more comfortable and the price difference. The biggest thing that held me off on the 8.4 was that I cannot get the Samsung keyboard for it. I like to type a bit and unless I am wrong, I can only get a matching Samsung keyboard with the 10.5 (unless I get the ATT 8.4 with only a charcoal gray version). I only need wi-fi and I am happy with my provider because of local coverage so ATT is out for me.

So, if I’m correct and with the current holiday sales, I can get the 8.4 with NO option to get a matching color Samsung keyboard , or get a 10.5 for approx $50 bucks more with the option of actually getting a matching Samsung keyboard?

Anyway, since I was holding out for Samsung to come out with an 8.4 keyboard and they are obviously are not in a hurry to put one out in the titanium bronze or white that I can actually buy, should I not just get the 10.5 tomorrow for $50 bucks more? I kind of know the answer but I am pissed that Samsung is putting me in this situation by not putting out an 8.4 keyboard unless it is the ATT charcoal gray. I've had this weird feeling, even from the release date, that Samsung is trying to push the 10.5 over the 8.4 for some reason.

Dilemma. So they do actually make a keyboard for the 8.4? Might be a tad small? I tend to use the 10.5 in landscape and did my Playbook before this. So I like the buttons on the 10.5 along the bottom edge in landscape. Of course, I still prefer the button-free Blackberry Playbook but that's another story.

I got the logitech keyboard/case for the 10.5. I like it but am not using it as much as I expected.

I'd suggest doing a bit more testing and hold. I do find the 10.5 a bit large/heavy and it tends to pivot unless I have a good grasp on it. The easel case helps with better hand positions.

Yes they do have the 8.4 Samsung keyboard just like the 10.5,go on eBay and put in "Samsung Galaxy tab s 8.4 keyboard" and you will see it

You can get keyboard cases for the Nexus 7 so the little Tab should have them. I would go with the 10.5 for most use. There are faster small tablets than the Tab. Only warning is my 10.5 Tap has app crashes a lot. Only one that I have that has lots of app crashes.

I would STRONGLY advise you to get the 8.4. I was really torn on the 2 before making my purchase. I went to Best Buy like 3 or 4 times just to play around with them. I went with the 8.4 and could not be happier.

The biggest problem with the 10 is it's hard to hold even for someone like me with big hands. In all of the youtube reviews, people would have the tabs on a desk or table. Well in real life people aren't using their tablet on a desk 24/7. If you're like me, you use it in bed or lounging on the couch. The 8.4 has a rectanguler shape which makes it so much easier to hold, especially in portrait mode. It just feels like a bigger cell phone. Besides holding, it's so much easier to type with as well. Again it just feels like a bigger cell phone. Have you tried typing on a 10 inch tab? Major pain in the ***.

Don't worry about screen size either. Yes 10 is bigger but I watch a ton of sports and movies and the screen is big enough. I actually prefer watching stuff on my tab vs tv because the amoled is so gorgeous!

I know Lollipop isn't ALWAYS the greatest thing ever, but do either of these tabs upgrade to Lollipop?

I just got the 8.4. I'm very happy with it so far. I have a lot to learn, my old tablet was like a first generation ipad. In the end it was unsupported for most apps as it could not be upgraded past ios5.1.
Hopefully I learn a lot on this forum.

I ended up ordering the 8.4. I'm probably the biggest klutz around with my hands, and with other difficulties with my hands, the 10 was just too big.

Welcome. You might also visit the Tab S 10.5 forum as they two are fairly similar I suspect.
