Yes! You are seeing double. We call them "The Twins", Twin 1 and Twin 2.
They're part of the neighborhood cat contingent (about 6) that dine alfresco at the Deck Diner. It took about a year to gain their trust and they now wait on the deck in front of the backdoor for their vittles and water. They love being petted and belly rubs.
The first pic is Twin 1, second pic is Twin 2. Yes, I can tell them apart because of their subtle coat coloring differences.
And...yes... I've become a crazy cat-person, thanks to my wife who wanted a cat when we first got married (I never wanted a cat), which I gave her on our first Christmas.![]()

In the twelve years we've been married we've had 6 cats, all rescues, two were older cats (long story) who crossed the bridge a few years after we adopted them, the other was Slate's brother Merle. Merle came down with a fatal cat condition a couple of months after we adopted the two of them. Lil Bess was adopted soon after. Ironically it was this (previously) non-cat person, yours truly, suggesting adopting all of our cats. What adorable babies, and a super-romantic story about getting your wife a cat for your first Christmas together!
My husband wasn't a cat person (and he has a reason, because he's allergic) until he met me... Now, he hugs and kisses my cat and loves her! It helps that her fur is shorter and his allergies have become very diminished around her. Thank goodness!
