I really like the Accuweather app.

However, I find that even though i definitely want the notification at the top bar of the screen (ongoing notification), i do not want the entire bar that goes across the Lock Screen as it blocks my Lock Screen wallpaper, which I want to see.

May I ask if anyone knows how to have the ongoing notification but not the Lock Screen notification bar across the Lock Screen wallpaper?

Thanks.

Go to Lock screen & security >> Show Information >> Weather >> Switch Lock Screen to the off position.... you should be all set.

@GWaLL13: thanks for your kind suggestion.

it didn't work, but it was a good idea to try anyway.

what this does is to remove the Weather Widget of Samsung's Weather Widget! i.e. it will no longer display the weather next to the Lock Screen clock!

so, it has nothing to do with any other weather widgets, that's why this attempt in solving my problem won't work.

wonder if anyone else has ideas?

maybe it is not possible to de-link the top bar notification's on/off toggle from the Lock Screen show/not show toggle? i.e. they are one on/off for BOTH notifications?

Okay my apologies. I thought you were attempting to disable the stock weather ticker from the lock screen because it uses Accuweather to populate the information. So what you're saying is that you have a 3rd party weather app or widget and don't want that to display on the lock screen? Can you show screen shots of what you mean, that way I may be of better help.

@GWaLL13: i'm very grateful, btw, by your patience and interest in helping me out. thank you!

screenshot attached of the lock screen.

as you can see, the weather info "strips" block the "main event" of my wallpaper!! i.e. the eyes and face of my dog!

does this make more sense now, may i ask?

on the other hand, the fact that notifications show up at the top strip of a regular screen, i.e. the notification bar, is just fine and desirable even.

on the clock strip of the lock screen, on the right side of it, one already has the Samsung Weather Widget-populated weather information. i finally discovered that by digging around a lot.

that said, the Samsung Weather Widget does not use the ideal website to populate the info. i find another site to be far more reliable for me locally.

hope this helps you help me sleuth out a solution ;)

thank you again.2015-04-10 22.52.44.jpg

Ah ok I understand now. So last bit of info I need is first, what app are you using to display that weather info? Second is, does that info bar show up permanently meaning every time you wake up the lock screen, or only when there is a notification?

Actually I think I figured it out but I believe this solution will disable all notifications from showing up on your lock screen.

Go to settings >> sounds and notifications >> notifications on lock screen >> do not show notifications

well, if one were to disable Lock Screen notifications, then i won't have the temperature notification on the notification bar!!

that's the issue: how to disable the notification in the Lock Screen, and not disable the tiny temperature notification on the notification BAR on a regular basis.

does it make better sense now? i think my original intent might have gotten lost after several replies. thanks.

Maybe a happy medium is to disable the notifications on lock screen and enable the stock weather widget on the lock screen. The temperature will be the same as it would be in the status bar since accuweather is the source of the info. I don't think there is a way to disable lock screen notification without also disabling the status bar as well.

I have the same issue and this wasn't a problem until the last Android update. As far as I can tell, the only way to get rid of it is to block all notifications which will also block texts and missed calls from the lock screen.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Actually, the issue is that AccuWeather is NOT the source of the weather info that Samsung's Weather App uses to populate its weather app!

So, to the far right of the Samsung clock is the weather info from Samsung's Weather app. This is populated by another weather app - i forgot its name but it is not AccuWeather.

The thing is: for my area at least, I accidently found that AccuWeather is THE most accurate weather app i've ever come across!

Oh well, maybe as "@unluckystars" wrote just after you, it's just something we have to live with for the time being! :(

Just to clarify, the Samsung clock & weather widget is sourced by accuweather. Take a look at the screenshot when you click on the weather icon. In the bottom left corner is the accuweather logo and to the right is the time and date updated. I didn't believe it at first either but, the proof is in the pudding. Again, I think disable the notification and keep the weather widget on the lock screen, just set it to sync more frequently.

1. If you are using a root phone and have xposed framework then install "App Settings" module and use this module to set Accuweather's priority to MIN. This will let Accuweather's notification intact in he status bar but removes it from the lock screen.

2. If your phone is not root, then you probably have to disable Accuweather's notification totally (from Settings,Notifications, App notifications for Lollipop), which also removes notification from the status bar

I had this exact same issue and this resolution worked for me. The reason I wanted to disable it was the Acuuweather premium lock screen widget covered the S Fitness pedometer count on the lock screen. Thanks for the help!

well, i use a non-rooted Samsung S6 Edge+.

i have two issues:

- the font used on the notification on the Status Bar is too small! they don't give a way to adjust that size.

- on the lock screen, the accuweather part is way too big, obscuring my lockscreen wallpaper. i don't want that! i don't know what to do (again, non-rooted phone).

Any luck? i'm having the same problem.

Just to clarify:

It's not the weather widget embedded into the lockscreen by Samsung. it's the notification from the Accuweather app. (See screenshot below)Screenshot_2015-10-16-11-44-50.jpg

I'm referring to the persistent ugly black bar in the middle of my screen in the above picture.:'(

Yes, I can get rid of the notification in the following ways:

1. Turn off lock screen notifications (this turns off all notifications for all apps):-!

2. Block the notifications from this App. (this turns off all notfications from this app. defeats the purpose of having a weather app) :-X

3. Uninstall Accuweather (No. I do need the information presented by app.) :-*

So, wondering if there are any other options out there to not have this persistent display (big black bar) of the weather on my lock screen. :(

This wasn't a problem prior to Lollipop. Stupid Lollipop notification system messed up the whole lock screen IMO.

Using an unrooted S6 Edge with Nova Launcher.

How did you get to the details of the weather? I'm trying to click on the weather widget on the lockscreen.. but it doesn't take me anywhere.
