There should be no reason a rooted, running a JB ROM Galaxy Nexus can't be activated correct? I had a rooted, unlocked Sprint Galaxy Nexus that I sold on Ebay described as "rooted and running JB". Before I sold it I did a factory reset to wipe my data and set the ROM back to how it was after a fresh flash. So the buyer receives it and take it TO SPRINT TO ACTIVATE and Sprint jacks it of course. Shouldn't he be able to do another factory reset and then activate online at Sprint.com by just entering the dec or hex# and it should be good to go correct?

Possibly but you gotta remember its cdma so they have to look at the phone before they activate it so there's gonna be a ****** bag saying hey this phones rooted I gotta delete root and give it all sprint bs so unless they root it there mst likely gonna loose root

What do you mean by "Sprint jacks it"?

I got my GNex from someone over at XDA and it was already rooted and was able to activate it over the phone without any issues.

He brought a rooted phone to Sprint to activate and Sprint couldnt activate it. They then realized it was rooted after an hour of trying activate it. They buyer says Sprint blames the ROM. I think that is crap. A rooted phone should activate no problem.

This happened to me with my evo. It was rooted running an ICS rom. They wouldnt activate it. I just flashed a stock rom, and they were none the wiser. Then after it was activated, i flashed the ICS rom back to it.

Oh OK.

Yeah, a rooted device can be activated without a problem. My GNex was rooted and activated just fine.

Is there a custom rom on the device? Certain roms remove the tools needed to activate the phones on a different number and they won't do the hands free activation. In the past I've had to flash the stock rom back to get the phone activated. It's not Sprints fault. They aren't trained to work with rooted phones if you've tampered with them.
