For some reason the 'NFC On/Off' setting does not appear in the Settings->Connections menu on the Galaxy watch. Does anyone know why this is the case and what could be causing it? Is the use of NFC on the watch bound to region or country?

Any help is appreciated.

I don't know. It does show on mine. I'm in the UK.

Have you tried adding it as a shortcut on the quick settings on the pull down shade?

Thanks for your suggestion! Unfortunately the NFC feature is also missing there and cannot be added to the quick settings. I guess there is a kind of pre-requisite for using NFC, like country (NL) or the type of phone (iPhone8) perhaps.

Maybe take it up with Samsung to be sure?

The Samsung helpdesk explained that it is due to the iPhone integration. Some features are disabled.
I have now paired the watch with a Samsung Galaxy S9 and the NFC option is available. In general the integration of the watch with the Galaxy phone works very smoothly and is more feature rich.

Excellent stuff @rboland
Welcome to the Samsung ecosystem. It's an interesting place and with rather a lot of tweaks (!), can be superb!
