Hello everyone, I have a problem. I bought a rooted Evo with the 4 Kornerz (4.1.2v) Rom. I tried to activate the phone and Sprint told me that they can't activate rooted phones. Does anyone know how to activate a rooted phone? Is there a way to temporarily unroot the phone? Do I have to go back to stock? He used Revolutionary and the boot key to root the phone it was a 2.3.3v.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Sure sprint activates rooted phones, No reason not to. Just dont tell them it is. They might have to walk you through a manual programing

You are absolutely correct benny3, they can activate a rooted phone by manual programming however, i couldn't get to the service screen using ##72786# or ##818050#, so unfortunately I was unable to activate the phone while it was rooted. The manual programming worked on my rooted lg optimus, they had to reactivate it after deactivating it to activate the evo. I did unroot the phone using the RUU method. It worked in 5 minutes, one of the easiest things I've done since I've started rooting and flashing roms. I then called sprint and yes, they activated the phone. I then immediately rooted the phone and flashed 4 Kornerz Rom.

I am having trouble trying to figure out why it wont play videos from youtube. I'm using Dolphin browser and I created a bookmark to youtube. The video loads up and then nothing. I tried downloading the app and same thing. I tried using google and it plays a little and then reboots. Any ideas?

Sounds like this could be a related issue to the ROM w/ the reboots... Normally that is a sign of ROM or kernel problems..

Should I try reflashing the rom? I flashed the kernel separately. Flashing the rom I would get the original kernel that comes with the rom correct?

UPDATE: reflashing didn't work :(

In order to activate the phone, it must have a Sense based ROM. Sprint cannot detect whether or not the phone is rooted but their servers do interact with Sense during activation. Simply boot into recovery, make a nandroid backup, flash a Sense based ROM, reboot the phone, and proceed through the activation process. Once the phone has been activated successfully and is working you can safely boot back into recovery, restore your nandroid backup, or flash the ROM of your choice. For a Sense based ROM I recommend either the rooted Sprint stock ROM available from [ROM][BASE] 5.07.651.6 Stock - Rooted - Latest Supersonic OTA - xda-developers or MikG 3.11 available from MikG v3.11 [3/9/2012] - theMikMik (make sure you download the full wipe version).

Thanks, this is great info, I'll save it in case I ever need to revert back to stock.

That's a good idea, when I do, I'll report back. I'll do it on my days off (Mon & Tues). I need my phone for work. Everything works except for playing videos off of youtube.

Ok, I flashed an earlier version of 4 Kornerz and I was able to play videos off youtube without the reboots, however I'm going back to Ultimate, just love the look and I can live without the videos, hahha, we will see for how long.
Anyways, thanks for the help everyone
