Is cost a factor in your decision? Meaning can you afford the few extra bucks?

I have both. Two of each, actually (both black and silver of each model). For me, it really comes down to aesthetics and the rotating bezel. I prefer navigating with the rotating bezel and prefer the looks of the GW3 but the AW2 works just fine with its touch bezel and has the more sleek appearance. I love the look of the AW2 in silver and its silver/grey band looks really sharp. Also, the black AW2 looks sharp in its own right.

The both have the same functionality, so you're not losing/gaining any features by choosing over the other. If I could only have one I would want the GW3.

Thanks for the replies

The biggest question for me is LTE worth the extra money?

I dont know if ot is or not. was leaning lte but with added cost with vzw per month plus more watch cost not worth it i was just think bluetooth will be way to go. I was actually thinking about the watch active 2 golf edition since the golf GPS app is included lifetime on the watch for an additional 30 bucks and normally that golf subscription is worth a 100 bucks for life time

Im all about saving dinero....

for me the lte was not worth it. extra cost for the watch, extra monthly cost for the service provider. I researched numbersync and saw others were having problems. IMO, as long as I get call notificaitons that is good enough for me since my phone is always with me when I am wearing the watch. In the end, it made for a smaller and lighter watch and a heavier wallet :-)

i decided on watch active 2 golf edition got it from amazon. and as long as i redeemed 1 penny in discover cash back they gave me a 50 dollar discount. so i was out the door with my 26 bucks cash back redemption and tbe 50 bucks for 250 delivered.

I am going to get a spigen case for it and screen protector for it plus an extra band or 2

Congratulations!!!

I like the sleeker look of the Active 2. Also a slightly smaller face size (40mm). I am a woman so the smaller size of the face looks better for me. As to the bezel, I tend not to use it even though there is a virtual bezel on the Active 2. But the virtual bezel works just as well as the physical one in my opinion. I had the S2 Gear before and I like the Active 2 much better.

Congrats!

A word on the Spigen case... While it offers added protection, in my case the persistent friction between the rubber case and my wrist actually resulted in a rash for me. I had to wear the watch on the other wrist for a week to allow the rash to heal sufficiently.

Not to mention, the Active 2 is built of really resilient materials. Without the case on, I've bumped into more than a few objects and there's still not a mark on the watch (God willing it stays that way!) 🤞🏻

Active 2 is a better option, it has the same functionality for a much lower price
I do note that some of the same watch faces on the Active 2 have less functionality and customization than on the GW3. Tomcat is one example. Some watch faces that available on the GW3 are not available on the Active 2. It may not be a big deal to some but it is something I've noticed.

I hate to ask, but how many phones do you own? Seriously, thanks for your input. These forums can be really helpful.

Currently, only 3 (Fold 2, Note 20 Ultra, and Note 20). At the time that photo was taken I also had a Note 10+ and an S20 Ultra. I know, I know. I'm trying to do better.

I was tempted by the trade in offered by Samsung in the AW3, but functionality aside, I was disappointed to see they went back to the stems/buttons protruding from the case. One of the main reasons I went for the Active 2 was its sleek design. This watch still does more than I will ever ask of it, so unless Samsung returns to the "buttonless" design, I'll stick with the Active 2. That price at Costco is a steal; I paid $250 for mine.
