I like the idea of a smartwatch. But I also want an activity tracker. For activity and health tracking, how well does the Moto360 compare against say Jawbone and Fitbit?

Can't compete. Two different target audiences, really. Jawbone and Fit are specifically designed to be all-day activity trackers, which include sleeping patterns, calorie burning, heart rate monitoring, workout profiling, etc. As such, you can wear them for an extended period of time and, given the right model, could even take them with you for a shower or a swim.

The Moto 360 is just a basic activity tracker. It can only measure heart rate, count steps, and try to figure out active VS non-active periods in your day. That's it. While it's water resistant, it won't tell you how many laps you swim or well you slept (actually the battery lasts around two days with light/moderate use now, so it's not impossible to sleep with it, but probably you'll still want to charge it every night).

It's horrible as a fitness tracker. I also wear the fitbit charge.

We need a device that is great at both.

Would end up being too expensive to compete, unfortunately. At this point in tech, anyway... I'm sure that in the future there will be something readily available, but by then, there's gonna be something else that a specialized device will perform at better.

It's worth noting that the Moto360's 'activity tracking' features I was talking about are solely based on what the watch alone can do. Paired with the phone you get more detailed tracking since you couple it with the phone's GPS and even external accessories like blood pressure checks.

Just saw this thread... too bad its a bad activity tracker, I was hoping it would at east e decent.
