Hi,

As a developer I am curious about Ad based applications and if it is worth developing. What kind of ROI can be made using this model and how do you make money on the ads? Is it really worth it? Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Jason

This is not related to ur post but i thought i could just ask u a question about ur apps..

I am interested in the torrent app, but i am skeptic to purchase it because i bought the only other torrent app for the evo and it didnt work.
If i buy ur app and it doesnt work, can i get a refund? Or maybe u can release a free versuon that expires in 'x' amt of days....

Well, I can tell you right off the bat that we are having issues with out licensing method and the Evo. I did hear of someone today that is using an Evo and the latest version and is able to run it, perhaps because he had not previously installed any version of dTor. I would always offer a refund if it did not work. The non market version has a built in Trial that will let you test it without buying it for a few days, assuming that the licensing part works for you. Give it a try and see what happens. Send me a PM if I can help.

Thats great, thz for your responce. I went to the blueplanet site and was not able to find a link to download the off the market version...maybe you can link me?

The version on this forum is the same as the market version except it gives you a 3 day trial to start. The market version is in the App store just search for dTor. Sites like AppBrain or other market app sites also list it and can install or direct you to it. An update should be along shortly.

BluePlanetMan,
I believe that you should have a free app availible that will only do X amount of things until its useless and/or have a version that doesnt have all of the features and has ads that does not expire and of course have the exclusive paid App. Another idea is start the app with ad support for free with full use and let it catch on and then upgrade it to be the Pro version and let there be a limited version kinda like shazaam did. That way all the first users get it for free and since word of mouth is the best type of ad for these apps you are sure to get people to buy because other people vouched for it.
Hope this Helps

I really like what Dirrk was saying with the whole "I believe that you should have a free app available that will only do X amount of things" but you really have to be careful with it. Lots of times ive downloaded free apps with ads and been perfectly fine with what i got. While i was glad the app did everything i wanted i had no urge to pay for the other version. What i would recommend is giving the customer a little of everything in the free version and unlimited everything in the paid. If its to record finances let give them all the features but only the ability to track one account and in the paid as many as they want.
