Adaptive Display

What are the benefits of leaving this on in the "Display" settings? The screen is noticeably brighter with it turned off.

I'm at odds too. It can be handy, but seems inconsistent and fluctuates sometimes.

I have mine turned Off. Never have used it. It's supposed to optimize the screen brightness based on current light conditions. Most of us like our screens a little brighter, but maybe a dimmer adaptive brightness is easier on our eyes?
