Add icons on home screen for installed apps (Gmail, Youtube) in Oreo

Find the icon for the installed app, hold it down with one finger, background is supposed to turn into one it more pages of your home screen and allow you to place the icon where you'd like it to appear. Supposed.

Swipe up from the bottom, you might need to do it twice as the first time would be the multitasking screen.

Hello,

I just bought an Essential Ph-1, it updated to Android Pie 9.0

I cannot figure out how to add to the home screen all the icons of apps already installed, such as Gmail, Youtube, Maps, etc. Will really appreciate if someone can tell me how I can view the installed apps and be able to drag the icons to the home screen

On my Nexus 6p I would just press the home "button" (6 dots) and can view all the apps installed from where I just drag the icon to the home screen.

Thanks
Try a long swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
