add my phone number to used droid incredible

just got a used droid incredible (verizon). i noticed that the previous owner's phone number is still in the device settings. how can i change it to my number? thx.

Take it to Verizon to activate it??? You can also do it through your online account, or by dialing *228 from the phone itself. Might wanna try making a regular call from it first just to make sure it's not still active.

I haven't activated yet as I'm waiting on a new batt and chrgr. I wasn't sure if this would remove the old number and add mine but I also verified with Verizon that activating it was all I needed to do. Thx for the reply.
