adding apps to home screens

My G6 play appears to have a calculator and files app. I can access them through settings but can't create shortcuts and add them to home screen. I have tried long pressing and dragging but nothing, anyone any ideas? Thanks

You need to access the app drawer to do this. Either find the icon at the bottom that is a matrix of dots or swipe up from the bottom of the screen and you'll get the app drawer so you can then find the apps and follow the previous directions to add them to a homescreen.
