Adding battery percentage to battery icon?

Is there a way to add the battery percentage to the normal battery icon? Either already built into the OS or through 3rd party?

not without rooting, but there are numerous battery apps on the market that show percentages. Either widgets on your homescreen, or ones that sit in your status bar.

try some of these, or just search appbrain for "battery widget" or "battery app"
