Adding file shortcuts to homescreen

This might have already been asked here. Can one add a file shortcut to the home screen on Android?
Running kit kat.

Open the app drawer, open Widget tab, all of the available shortcuts are in there together with the widgets.

If it doesn't have what you're looking for you need to download an app to add that functionality. ES File Explorer can have a shortcut to any files in your internal storage for example.

thanks a lot. i was referring to adding a file shortcut using es file explorer. couldn't find the option in the first place. thanks anyways.

Install a third party launcher like Nova and you can very easily.

Did you find the option? In ES..long press the file you want and then cluck more. Should have an option to add to desktop
