Shortcut already exists - but I can't see it on home screen

OS = Android 13
Dev = One Plus Nord 2T CPH2399
App = MS Excel

I have Excel on my home screen and I want to to add a shortcut to a workbook to my homescreen, so that I have two Excel icons onn the home screen. So I opened the Excel app, selected the worksheet in question from its Recent list (three dots on right) and pressed "Add to Home screen." But I can't find it! Home screen only has two pages, so it's not like searching for a needle in a haystack.

So I tried again - "This shortcut already exists". I removed the Excel app shortcut (you never know...) and tried again - same result.

Has anyone got any clues on how to find these missing shortcuts?

EDIT: Action taken - "Add apps to Home screen" set on, also tried reboot.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the stock launcher, or a 3rd party one?

You might want to try Microsoft Launcher, which might integrate a little better with Excel.
