Adding/Removing the Hotspot Feature

I see I can add the Hotspot feature online. Does Sprint allow you to add/remove it monthly? I don't need it all the time, but some months I do travel a bit (and I want it more for the multiple device support rather than just tethering to a PC) but some months I would not use it at all. I assume I would pay for it for an entire month and then I could cancel it for the next month - but can I do this as needed easily?

On an Android Central's podcast about 3 weeks ago, Jerry said he adds it for a day or two when traveling (or was it a caller?) I know for sure, there isn't contract, so you can cancel/add remove it monthly as you like.

I'd like to know how often you can get away with this before Sprint doesn't permit it. In my case, I need it for several days during a month when my local ISP goes down. I don't want to pay for an entire month.

I know I can use PDaNet, but I want to do this legally if it's for any longer than an hour or so.
