Adding Wireless Charging

I'm thinking of one of the two new OnePlus phones (7t or 7t Pro), but I think that I will miss wireless charging too much. I have seen those devices that you can plug a wireless charging coil into the USB-C and charge wirelessly. It appears that the largest trade off is that you it blocks the USB-C port and you will not be getting Warp Charge speeds. For me, I almost never use my charging port on my current phone (Note 10) unless I'm travelling or using Android Auto on my RV or Jeep (off -road Jeep, not daily driver). It seems to me that it would be easy enough to pull off the case and remove the coil in those instances. I usually charge my phone overnight on a bedside wireless charger, so speed isn't really an issue. It looks like the NFC antenna is mounted high by the camera,so hopefully it won't be blocked. Any opinions on this?

I thought I would miss it but the battery life and the phones charging speed has quickly erased that concern for me.

That's not a bad solution. Wonder how durable though.

The charging speed and battery life on my OP make it easier to live without wireless, but I still miss it from my Nexus days.

If nothing else, it spares the charging port all that wear and tear. In my personal experience, the ports on every OP device I've owned haven't stood up well.
If I do switch over to OnePlus, I am thinking about getting this to add wireless charging,

Connect it and place a case on the back of the phone to hold this in place, then it can charge wireless, slow, but I always charge over night.

Has anyone used something like this before?

I did this on an S5 years ago. It works, but be mindful of the separation distance as it can cause overheating if excessive.
Good luck

I wouldn't do it. OnePlus will eventually add it.

I'm sure they will, and with as much yapping that the CEO has given on the subject, I assume that it will be an efficient and innovative design, but I don't want to wait. I just wish they would add it and give the disclaimer that it is going to charge slower than a backwards snail. I would be happy that. We could always plug it into warp when we needed a quick charge.

Every phone I have owned since the Nokia Lumia 920 back in 2012 has had Wireless charging and I used it and nothing else to charge my phones for those 6+ years. It was my single biggest worry when I bought the 7 Pro. I haven't missed it a bit.

I have the 7pro and honestly I don't miss or care about wireless charging. I added one of those packs to my Samsung Galaxy S5 that fit on the charging pins behind the back cover then you smashed the cover over it to hold it on. Yeah it fit inside the phone on the s5 but left a bump in the plastic back. It was god awful slow. You could only count on a full charge overnight, that is if your didn't get on the night stand and Push it off the charger pad. I totally gave up. On the idea.

My 7pro has been great and charges so fast with the warp charger. It will charge with any USB c charger too just slower. I have a few Anker QC 3.0 chargers around and a multi port one in my Jeep. Since I have other things to charge like my work iPhone and tablets both are still in use. Either will fully charge the 7pro in about 2 hours from 10% or so.
I have never broken a charge port. Maybe I'm more careful than others idk. I make sure to not yank cables out and put them in carefully. Never pull them taunt at angles when using it while charging so you don't break it.
