additional charge for 4g?

Ive been on every platform since early 2010. Ive been through the blackberry struggles of outdated software, the decline of windows mobile and slow growth of palm os. When i decided to get an android it was after using my friends evo. I was not a fan of sense ui but i gave it shot and im very happy. I also had an ipod touch for a few months so im familiar with iOS. I must say, when youve been on blackerry os for so long, you start to cherish what other os's have to offer. So iOS is pretty good imo. One gripe i still have with android is the multitasking. I mean ios isn't that bad. But with android, you don't really multitask. You just bring up your recent apps. BB still has the best multi tasking imo.

I really want to stay on android but the direction verizon seems to be a good one.

Yep, I think apple makes stand out laptops, I'm on my 17" macbook pro right now. For a 17" laptop, with the specs it has, no other company makes one as thin, light or power efficient, period.

iOS = crap. I still think it's just a glorified ipod.

i too have a 17" macbook. It's awesome.

i will prolly never get another iphone again...stand in a store an play with the phone for an hour an tell me if you dont fall asleep. im not a android fanboy nor do i hate apple. i hate ios.

Why does the operating system make a phone interesting or boring? Isn't it the apps that matter? And doesn't the iPhone have the most apps? And doesn't it also have the most games? Of all arguments not to get an iPhone, I haven't seen "boring". Slow, not 4G, no Flash, too locked down? Definitely. But boring?

I think the campaign iphones are using saying they have the most apps is kinda BS. Im sure there counting free trial games and ad free apps and others.

i will give them apps in numbers. im a console gamer. tho i have lil games like pinball card games an some other stuff. but the app count apple has is a little over done. iv said it on here before. its quality, not quanity. but i think apple also counts free trial an payed apps. so watever. but the os has alot to do with not being bored. on all my friends android devices, they can get tons of info with out switching screens. widgets, notifcation bar. in ios you have to launch an app. an that is one source. close it. open another app to get something else. sure say multi tasking. but its just a fast switch between apps. widgets make android os so much cleaner an something to look at. not square icons. an for apple not to get flash. thats a huge deal wen web browsing. just as an example on a page with a youtube video on it. android u can run the video with out leaving the page. ios will launch the youtube app. just my 2 cents as im so over iphone until there is a huge overhaul on it

I used to say the same thing about android when i had my blackberry.

Yeah, but it's a Blackberry. Pretty soon, the only people carrying a Blackberry will be crotchety old business executives who are set in their ways and are too stuborn to move. Hell, they'll have a whole IT department that is supporting BES just for them despite the fact that the entire world has moved on.

Yes, little things like... APPS! Haha.

God, Blackberry's seem so freaking uncool these days. I wonder if RIM realizes how screwed they are?

Most of them are garbage.

Ask an iPhone user what he or she thinks about their GPS app. Better yet, ask them how much they paid for it.

I understand that quantity does not equal quality...I was just trying to make the point that there are enough good apps for the iPhone that I don't think I'd get bored with it in one hour.

BTW, I haven't gotten to try out Google Maps Navigation yet, but from the promotional video, it's hard to imagine it not blowing everything else out of the water. Until I get rid of my LG Dare (I know you want to laugh, so please don't hold back), it's VZNavigator for me :)

sadly thats were ios doesnt help you at all. the maps app is just that a map. its not turn by turn directions. (at least i havent seen it on iphone) you have to hit a next button for each turn an so on. google has nav basically built right in. im a cable tech so half my day is spent driving. i use my garmin for nav, as a co worker has a dock for his htc hero an has free nav. sure i no people with iphones that have nav, but they paid out the ass for it.
sorry ac. i couldnt find a demo from yall lol.
YouTube - Google Navigation: In Car Video Demo!

The unlimited plan is going to go away. VZW will be going to tiered plans. And I believe it will be 10$ more a month for 4g when u buy a 4g phone. No way around it. Just like buying a VZW smartphone you are required to have a data plan. No way around. As for Sprint not having sim card there 4g is a mix of WiFi and 3g different technology then l

Google Nav is really fantastic. I use it all the time! But it isn't the best. It lacks many of the features that high end Garmins have such as: avoiding a certain road, showing the speedlimit of the road your on, detours, adding a destination between you and your current destination, etc. etc.

Navigation does have a detour function. Albeit, somewhat limited, but it's there. You can find it when you click on the traffic/travel time in the bottom left.

Really I find Google nav to be unreliable. Every time I've used it it sent me to a wrong destination. I would love for garmin to bring there app to every android phone. And back on Target if VZW limits a 5gb cap what good is taunting hulu netflix or other streaming sights. I'm also above 10gb on my DroidX. And haven't been throttled down yet.

Don't forget HTC is now partnered with TomTom to include their GPS app and it may well be there in place of Google Maps. Of course you can still d/l but why?

Doubtful. The videos I have seen clearly show a Google Maps stub in the app drawer.

If its 15 LTE then I'm switching carriers. 45$ for data on a cellphone is ridiculous. Plus a 40$ calling plan. It is nuts.

Sadly I will pay whatever the cost of service......... If it is 45 a month I will just switch to a 3g only phone whenever one comes out..... maybe DINC2
