Ok so I have my Google and Facebook contacts syncing to my Captivate.
I wanted to try to organize them. It seems I can't add a contact from Google or Facebook to "Phone" Annoying, because unless a contact is on "Phone" you can't assign it a specific ringtone. I figured out the way around that. What I had to do was go to gmail on the web on my computer. EXPORT the contacts as a CSV. I then copied that CSV file to my phone's external SD card. I was then able to go into the Contacts app and import them to PHONE. The VCF Format ensures that if they have a contact photo it will remain intact.
If you're with me so far, here's where I ran into another snag. The "PHONE" portion of contacts also allows you to place contacts into groups, I thought I'd like to do that so I spent about 30 minutes putting them into groups.
Now IN those groups, "FAMILY" for example, the contacts are there, but they have NO pictures. In the big contact list, they photo is there.
I have been banging my head against a wall on this one since I got my Cappy 3 weeks ago. Anybody have any ideas? Or a good address book replacement?
