Adios my Bionic brethren!

Sad to see you go but this may be the writing on the wall, so I went over to Best Buy this Saturday and there is a verizon retail store a few doors down. So just for kicks I go over there and take a look at the G Nex. Ok, I'm thinking cool but it didn't knock my socks off (not much I can do w/ a demo model (power was applied)). So I think to go over to the Droid Bionic to see what S/W version they're running and see if I can hit "Systems Update". I looked EVERYWHERE and there was not one Driod Bionic on display. I was thinking really? Not one? They had plenty of IPhone 4Ss tho.

i've visited a couple of verizon stores over the past couple of days so that i could play with the nexus and razr. From my admittedly limited interactions with them, I agree in that there wasn't enough to push me over the edge and ebay my Bionic so that I could get one of the new ones. If this reported .891 patch doesnt solve the data drop, though, i may change my mind

Did you hear? They're up to 5.9.901 LINK

I haven't try either update myself. I need to run rootforever first.

Not sure foreverroot is going to work with this new update you guys are getting... I'd have no idea... but be sure you get it confirmed before assuming!!

When I went to get my gnex was the first time I played with the razr since it came out... didn't see anything special about it. Screen seemed same as bionic's and I didn't care for the form factor. It did seem a bit zippier though.. probably due to the overclocked processor and better kernal they loaded in it.

I decided to keep the Bionic - You almost had me convinced to change to the Nexus but I like the 901 update and my phone has been stellar ever since.
Also, I wanted a replaceable MicroSD card...My new 32 Gig card (Class 10) is in shipping right now.
I may change my mind at any time so don't be surprised if you see a post about my new Nexus...or whatever comes out this summer...who knows.

Fair enough glad the phone is doing better with the update :)

Just sold my bionic today, got 300 for it with my 32 Gig card included. Could have got more probably, but I made back the cost of the nexus so I'm more than happy with that. I also thought I would miss the removable memory but honestly I never had much use for all that space. Have an ipod for music, plus google music is great now since I can stream all my music through the phone when I need.

as with other members i jumped ship from the bionic to g-nex, motoblur was a little to much for me, and i like all the support for the g-nex that will be coming out. i will be using my bionic as my backup, i still love it so much but g-nex is so shiny and new and fresh :)

$300 for my Bionic would change my mind - I gotta go see the Nexus. Did you sell it on ebay?

Craigslist. I had it on swappa.com for a week and didn't get any hits... put it on craigslist and got like 15 emails within the first 12 hours, had it sold in 1 day, plus I just met the guy at the vz store so he could check it out and make sure it got activated alright, and I walked out with cash, no need to paypal or any other nonsense. Best decision ever :)

Played with Nexus for about 10 minutes in the store today - What a screen! I must confess that I loved it. I thought it was easier to read, faster web loads...etc...etc. The only thing I believe I will miss is the contacts widget but I can probably get that on the market.
I put my Bionic up for sale on Ebay ($299.99 for phone and charging doc), if it sells I'll buy the Nexus, If not...I'll rethink it.
Thanks for all your input.

Hmmmm. Sad to see you go from Bionic 2def, since I'd say you were my biggest motivation for rooting my Bionic and getting into custom ROMs (thank god), but I totally understand.

The Nexus looks dreamy, and I really want to upgrade, but I'm trying not to. I've also invested in the car dock and bedside dock, which means I'd have to start all over from that perspective.

Glad you enjoy the phone though, I was very intrigued to view your opinions compared to the Bionic. ICS is probably the biggest motivation for me.

After reading the glowing reviews of the GN from "2defmouse" I sold my Bionic and beside charger for a Galaxy Nexus. He was right - this phone is awesome. I hated buying another phone but it was so worth it.
Anywho, my opinion is just that (only an opinion)...and thanks to all who contribute to this forum - it really does help.

Niceee :D

Had them add a line. $10 more per month and I got the GN for upgrade price. Keep my unlimited data, and now the extra line's minutes get shared so I get double the minutes (as if I ever use my phone as a "phone" anyway, lol)

Yes mathematically it's not much saving in the long term ($10 a month for 2 years, with taxes/fees, adds up to a chunk of money anyway lol) but I got sold since it was far less money out of pocket now. I walked in ready to pay full cost for the phone so paying less than half of that was an attractive offer, and yeah I made it all back with the bionic sale, so, WIN :)

EDIT: Oh plus in 2 yrs or so if I want to keep the setup, I'll have 2 upgrades relatively close. Can space them out however I want, etc.. so that could be fun too ;)

To throw a loop I am considering returning my GN and going with a Bionic? Why? Well I can live with the lousy volume. No matter what app I try it just wont work. The battery hog thing is a PITA, but I can get around it. The OS is fantastic. This phone does so much awesomely with one exception...be a phone. For me the radio just doesn't cut the mustard. I get a lot of dropped called. I do a lot of outdoors activities and where my buddies with Rezounds and Bionics can be a signal, I can't get squat. For me this is a major thing. I have done side by side comparison tests with a GN, Bionic, and Rezound side by side. Each and every time the Bionic gets the best signal strength as measured in decibels.

I think there's a fix for the volume thing: http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus/141706-volume-full-version.html

As for the radio, well, it's a relatively common belief that Moto has better cell radios than Samsung. Much like many believe Samsung's screens are better. Just one of those things I suppose.

Volume + works for some, not for others. I'm just used to a phone, when it audibly notifies, to be heard even when its in your pocket. As for the radio, I did a side by side test of the Bionic, Rezound, and GN and per the reported dB strength, the Bionic had the best reception bay far.

I got fed up with 2 bionic replacements. VZW exchanged it for a refurb rezound. It has some real nice features. But i miss the brightness and speed of the Bionic, HTC sense really lags the phone. Im thinking about going back to bionic but them data drops really frustrated me. HELP
