So I'm pretty sure I'm leaving Verizon and my TBOLT when the Sensation comes out on TMobile. Anyone else?

Sensation will be on T Mobile right? Good to get some input on T-Mobile as a carrier. Sounds like T Mobile was a bad experience for you then.

I left T-Mobile for Verizon and have never looked back. Verizon is superior in every way (except pricing, which I'm okay paying the premium for premium service).

You will experience terrible customer service and so-so cellular service. AT&T is even worse, and once that merger takes place...hold on to your hat because I'd bet it's going to be a wild ride.

Not going anywhere here. Verizon has the superior coverage here and besides I have a family with a family plan so jumping carriers for new phones isn't in the budget. If the coverage is good and you like it go for it. You may want to make sure of that first and not just go because you like a new phone.

Sadly, my work issues a T-Mobile phone for business. I've compared coverage between T-Mo and VZW, and T-Mo's coverage is FAR inferior -- especially in marginal areas such as on the subway.

If you don't need coverage in your area, perhaps it might not be an important factor to you.

T-Mobile has 4 dead zones within a mile of my house, lol no thx.

T-mobile customer service was some of the best I've ever had. I usually think about customer service like I do umpires - when they do right, I don't think about it and when they do wrong, I hate them. So it takes excellent service for me to say, "wow this is great service" and that's what I got with T-mobile. I haven't had to call in a long time, but back when I did, I remember thinking it was great that the reps I spoke with were polite, well-spoken, eager to help, knowledgeable, and empowered to do something about my issues. (I've read that their customer service ratings have ebbed somewhat lately - not sure what that means in practice though).

But I'm in a hinterland area, which for T-mobile means spotty coverage. If you travel to lots of random places for work, for example, they're not the best choice. If you're in a significantly peopled area or along the corridors in between them you're fine.

I'd be a bit wary of going with either T-mobile or AT&T as this merger progresses. That may not be rational, but it just makes me think of headaches to come.

This has been my experience with Verizon's reps. My most recent call to VZW support was about a billing issue. I put my mom's friend on my family share plan to help her out financially because she was using a T-Mobile prepaid phone and wasn't able to afford it anymore and it was her only phone.

Anyway, her foster son ended up dropping the phone in the toilet and she went to get another one and the Verizon store opened a new line and she got a new phone. Now given that I had a ton of old phones that she could use I sent her one of those so she could return the other line and not have to pay for 2 lines just so she could have a phone. Well she returned the line and the phone with 3 days to spare and they only credited the service and the cost of the phone minus the restocking fee.

So I called Verizon and I told them the situation and they gave me back the activation fee even though they normally don't give it back unless it's returned within 2 days. And another time I called and was able to get the $9.99 unlimited data promo pricing back after it had been removed when I switched one of my lines from a feature phone to a smartphone.

So basically, I've always had good experiences with Verizon customer service.

I just switched from T-Mobile to VZW to get the Thunderbolt. I really liked T-Mobile -- their Customer Service was top notch, and their prices are still the best. I was getting 300 Mins w/ 5 MyFaves, Unlimited Data, and Unlimited Texts for $60 minus a 15% corporate discount (~$51 before taxes).

With Verizon I am getting 450 Mins, Unlimited Data, No Texts for ~$60 after a 20% corporate discount.

I hardly ever use my minutes though -- and with MyFaves - I used practically 0.

Problem is - they're probably going to merge with AT&T - who imho has the worst customer service.

T-Mobile 3G coverage in the DC Metro area was good, I didn't notice any major problems compared to VZW, but the reliability of that connection didn't seem as good - for example when loading a webpage, it would start loading, get 50% finished then hang for a long time, then keep going. It didn't feel like it had a consistent connection. Maybe it was the phone (I had a T-Mobile G1) but the Thunderbolt doesn't feel like that at all.

I had Verizon many years ago, but left at the time because the phone choices sucked and Verizon always put their own OS on the phones. Now with Android it isn't an issue anymore.

But, assuming the phone was the issue with my data problems - I would definitely consider switching back to T-Mobile if they don't merge with AT&T and after they have LTE available :)
