Adjusting ringer and notification volumes

Is it possible to have the ringer and notification volumes move at the same time when pressing volume up and down on the side of the phone? Right now the volume buttons only adjust the ringer volume and if i want to change notification volume I have to hit the little settings button when the volume crap is onscreen and slide notifications independently.

It doesn't look possible with the stock Sound controls but a 3rd party application might provide what you're looking for - take a look at Sound Profile: http://market.android.com/details?id=Orion.Soft or just search the Google Play Store.

seems like such a common sense thing to add into the phone from the get go....weird.

I use the Sound Profiles app listed above and it works great. It seemed strange coming from a BlackBerry that this high end Android device had such rudimentary sound and notification controls. It's definitely something that should be a part of the phone without needing an extra app.
