Hey RageX, I'm currently sporting Apex RC2. The things I would like to improve about my phone are battery life and some speed I guess, although it's pretty fast.
Any suggestions, a rom I should switch to, tweaks I can add? Anything?
Also, what is your current opinion of CM7? Is it worth it to install yet, or is it still way to "Beta" to mess around with yet? I'm not really interested in playing with the rom, I want my phone to work well so I dont have to worry about it.
What kind of battery life are you getting with RC2? Apex is typically good in both of those areas. Although I haven't tried RC2, I did run one of the earlier Apex beta builds and got about 2 days on moderate use (I do have an extended battery, though).
Personally, I would wait a little while before installing CM, partially because the nightlies still have a few issues, but also because cvpcs in currently in the process of getting it to run on the GB kernel. RevNumbers has a flavor of CM already running on the GB kernel that is very stable. I've been running it as my daily for a couple of weeks with no problems. Battery life would probably be worse than what you currently get on Apex, though.
Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet that will give you great battery life. Different ROMs/mods/tools can have an impact on battery (and speed), and the impact they have can be different on different devices. Sometimes you just have to try different things to determine which provides the best performance on your device.
Anyway, here are things you could try:
- Undervolting
- SuperCharger script
- JakeBites Mods/Tweaks (CM only)
- Imoseyon Tweaks
- A data manager like JuiceDefender or Green Power
However, the more you use your phone, the less of an impact JD or GP would have
