I am on Verizon using a Galaxy Note20 Ultra. I received the Android 11 update this morning. Along with the update came Advanced Messaging for the Samsung Messaging app. I like Google Messages and use it from time to time but I prefer the stock Samsung Messaging app because it has some nice features but also because it integrates with the Samsung Ecosystem better, Watch 3, Buds Live, etc.
However, after updating and authorizing I keep getting an error message. I went into Message Settings, Chat settings and this is what I'm getting. See the screens Hot. Anyone else experiencing this on Verizon Note20 Ultra? And does anyone have a solution. Thought I'd try hear before calling Verizon.
Thanks

Same thing happens for me. Vz may not have turned it on?

I personally prefer messages, but it won't turn the screen on for texts like the Samsung version.

I'm the same way, I want to give Samsung's Messages app a try because I can do more with it on my watch. I enjoy Google Messages, but it would be nice to have the added functionality with Samsung's app.

Samsung Mesages is pretty good. If I can enable Advanced Messaging(RCS) I wouldn't mind using the stock messaging app all the time.

Verizon wants you to use their Messages+ crap and more than likely have stripped this feature from the phone.

I got the same thing when I tried to enable RCS in Samsung Messages as well.

Well, if VZW wants us to use Messages+, then they should make a watch app for it.

Btw, Google messages still won't wake your lock screen like samsung messages, but they fixes the edge lighting so it will work with Google messages now when the screen is off... So it makes it more usable to me. I'd still rather control what notifications wake my screen though. Pretty much just samsung messages and nothing else it seems.

Yeah, I knew this would happen so I disable and uninstall the Google message.

I'm still not getting messages from a co-worker who is using Google Messages, even after enabling it.

I enabled it on verizon as did someone I texted on at&t. Not getting read receipts or anything...

My wife and I have the 20 Ultra on the same Verizon plan and we got nothing either. But to be honest, I don't know that I would use it regardless. There were articles going around that said Samsung was pushing RCS to their Messages app using the Google RCS. That would have given us cross platform. This is Verizon's Advanced Messaging, which, in order to work, has to be with those on Verizon and have had that feature enabled by Verizon. At this point, that's very little phones and extremely restrictive. Considering it's not even working properly on top of that, I'm sticking with Google messages.
