Advertisements

Here's how advertising works: We have nothing to do with it from an editorial standpoint. Zero. Zilch. In fact, there's a decent chance anytime you visit a site that you're being fed Google Ads, which has more to do with you than us.

So we're sorry to see you go, but don't blame us for the advertising.

How do you not have control of what is being showed on your website? That's just ridiculous

We keep a pretty good line between editorial and advertising content. Like I said, we don't control advertising from an *editorial* standpoint. But regardless, WP7 isn't *that* offensive. :p

I understand that you guys have to make money, so I'm OK with the ads. That's how we keep the internet "free." I do admit to rolling my eyes when I see a big WP7 or BB ad, however.

Well - If you really want to have fun - click on them! That will run up the marketing $$$$ and pull funds away from R&D for M$ and RIM, thus insuring the superiority of Android! ;)

lol. You ain't the only one. :p

i've seen this two days in a row, and yes it does get annoying. Nobody likes pop up ads.. whatever they're selling. But what's worse is that it has nothing to do with android. yes it's cell phone related, but come on Phil..

Obviously, it competes w/the android ecosystem; the ONE thing that keeps this site in business. and it goes against everything people expect from this site.

you mentioned google ads on sites - but on AC, this isn't a user related google ad, its simply a WMP7 ad.. and whatever your "editorial standpoint" is, this is still your site. You agreed to it.

The first rule of advertising is to get your message in front of people who don't use your product. Advertising to your core fans is nice but does not produce results. Why would anyone be suprised that Windows 7 is advertising on an Android Site? I'm sure TiPB and Crackberry are seeing them too, and the WM site is probably awash with Android and Apple ads.

Again, click on them. You don't have to buy what they are selling, but the revenue will help AC and you can always take satisfaction that some marketing geek with a Wharton MBA is crowing about how successful the campaign is based upon click through?s!
