Advice on warranty service

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a Nexus 7 at a conference. (It's about time I won something, after all these decades of dropping business cards in goldfish bowls.) Of course, having won it, I don't have a receipt or an order number.

This wasn't a problem at first, since I was lucky (again!) and dodged the screen lift bullet. Unfortunately, my luck ran out with the speaker.

So, any advice as to how to approach this? Since I didn't buy it from anyone, I'm not sure where to start. Do I contact Google directly? Do I reach out to ASUS? Or am I just hosed? I'm greatful for any insight the hive-mind can offer.

Simply go to this site:

Contacting Support - Nexus Help

There is an email and phone support option. They won't ask where or when you purchased, just have the unit ready with box (for serial number, etc.) and you will be fine.

Actually, the third question -- after name and email address -- was "Where did you purchase your Nexus device?" When I told him I won it, he told me I'd have to call ASUS at 1+877-339-2787. (Phone number listed just in case someone else should need it.) The rep was very friendly and courteous, and I only had to wait maybe 90 seconds for the call to be answered.

ASUS also answered fairly quickly, but they balked a bit when I told them I didn't purchase it, but rather that I won it. Still, they issued an RMA, so even though I will be without my beloved tablet for an indeterminate amount of time, it will be fixed.

I hope.

I hope that you have good results and I wouldn't worry. If they had an issue with the unit not being purchased, they would not have issued and RMA #.

Stay positive!
