I'm debating if I want to get a Motorola or a Samsung phone. Having used mostly Pixels since the Pixel 2 (on currently using a Pixel 8 Pro), I'm wanting to try something different. I am not interested in decreasing the screen size of my phone.
I had a Samsung phone and tablet a long time ago but go very frustrated with the lack of updates. That's why I switched to my first Pixel. I think I'm seeing that Samsung is much better about updates now. How quick are they? I don't want a phone that's running year old updates. I'm not interested in the A line of Samsung phones.
As for Motorola, I'm intrigued by the Edge and RAZR. Does the Edge have enough RAM? I only play casual games, nothing that is graphics heavy. I understand updates are slow for Motorola, but how slow? Would they be slower with the Edge vs RAZR?
If it matters, I'm in Canada (all phones are unlocked) and using Rogers.
So bottom line is, what do you recommend?

I would jump on Samsung for sure. I've not had a Motorola phone in a while but I think Samsung is the way to go, especially if you go on one of the newer flagships. Their phones are so much better nowadays with longer support.

Samsung has certainly improved its update schedule, but keep in mind that although it promises up to 7 years of support (for flagship devices -- midrange and budget aren't necessarily included in this promise), that support goes from monthly to quarterly at some point: https://security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb. In addition, the length of time it takes for an Android OS upgrade to reach their phones after it's made available by Google is over 100 days: https://www.computerworld.com/article/4103529/android-16-upgrade-report-card-2.html. This is still significantly better than the rest of the competition.
