Hello folks...thought maybe that would get things started. I have an upgrade coming in August so I have been researching. I have been happy with my HTC DInc, but the TBolt is surely a tasty looking morsel. In doing my research I have noticed that there are a lot of happy people here at the Bolt Yurt, but also notice a lot of issues. A lot of issues...

I don't have have 4g where I hang the hat but realize that this is the technology of the future so I thought I would drop by and hopefully get some realistic advice. And, the future of 4g where I live is better referred to as distant.

I like Android, so IPhone recommends will probably fall on deaf eyes.

So, what is up, folks? Go ahead...be rough...I can take it. TBolt? DInc2? Hold out for the Bionic? My sis is going to end up with my DInc, so should I go back to the BB Storm 2 I gave her or sell it? (;) just kidding)

Blessings...Steve

I upgraded from the Dinc. to the Tbolt. in April. There isn't a big difference between the two. I have been very frustrated with it after the mr1 update until this weekend when we got the mr2 update. I am back to loving my Tbolt. If you were happy with your Dinc., go for it.

1 response...well, I surely appreciate the one I got. Guess I will try another forum. Maybe they are more helpful. Be well all...blessings...Steve.

The hard truth is the wait for the updates is Painfull.
You can read alot of whoa is me tales on the forum, where people want there phone to get up an cook breakfast, whipe there behind or plain ol do everything perfect. The realism is this is a great phone, if you purchase this phone you will not suffer from a lack of dual core slow phoneanosis that everyone seems to think a single core CPU brings about. What you will see is a Vibrant display snappy response time, and decent battery life. I can tell you that coming from the OGDinc you will not get much of a diff other than the size of the screen, more ram an the huge SD card that comes preinstalled.
If you know how to properly set up your phone for max batt. life then buy the mighty Tbolt an enjoy

Here's the one thing, though...I don't have 4g in my neck of the woods and don't expect it for at least another year, and I will have another upgrade on another line 4/12. One school of thought is to just be patient while the system and market develops and in the meantime, maybe the DInc2. Just spitballin'...

If you are interested in rooting and hacking your phone the Thunderbolt has a great group of developers which make owning this phone very enjoyable. The Dinc2 would be another great choice too, I would go look at each one at Verizon and get which ever one feels better. Good luck.

I second mclarry on the feels good part there is some kinda sweet spot on the 4" device.
But the Tbolt will work in 3G and the price of newer 3G phones isnt any cheaper so buyin the bolt wont mean your paying any extra for LTE capapbility and not utilising it.

I say go for it. I have the TB and live 5 min. outside of 4g, I had about 4-5 reboots a week before the update, now I have none. Everything works well, I like the option to have 4g and when I'm in a 4g area it's amazing how fast it is. I can't wait for it to make it another 5 min. to my house and at least I have the option for 4g when I am in a 4g area. No issues, great phone.

I love the TB, but I would hold out till the Bionic comes out compair all three, then make your decision.

+1 for Willymakit's comment. Wait for the Bionic - it's just around the corner. The only reason I'm not kicking myself for not doing so is I got the TB on release day, and it's been a few months since then, so it would have been a really really long wait haha. I will say that things are looking up for the TB after the last update. Gps lock has gotten better, and it appeared battery had gotten better until I was in the yellow at 2:30PM yesterday. We'll see how today goes.

If your upgrade isn't up until august I wouldn't even look at any phones out now. There will probably be a few new ones out by then that will be comparable or better.

Hopefully a few dual core and 4G phones.

I would wait until your upgrade date gets closer before making a final decision.

Personally I wouldn't get the Bionic after owning the Atrix prior . Given they are unlocking bootloaders now I just have a sour taste in my mouth for Motorola and Blur! I personally like HTC much more than any other Android device maker. I would say wait and see what's out in August but I'd say to get the TBolt like stated if you like ROMs and rooting stuff or the DInc2 if you want basically the 3G TBolt but a bit smaller. My buddy has the DInc2 and it's a nice phone and hell it just got GB!

I would wait and see what is coming down the line. I had the DINC and wish I would have kept it. The tbolt is ok, but if you're this close to an upgrade, I would wait a bit to see what else crops ups.

Yeah...I am definitely leaning toward the TBolt. Advice is good to go play with them and I have done that several times. It is part of my "month before upgrade ritual". I do like the DInc 2 and wish that it had 4g but realize that HTC can't create it's own competition in this particular arena.

The rooting thing...I don't know. Scared, I suppose. Warranty concerns...horror "brick" stories...and I am really not that computer savvy to just go off and start digging into the guts of a brand new phone. And wouldn't rooting cause problems with updates and market variety? Blessings...s

Well...I want to thank you folks for the input. Have an interesting little story...yesterday I missed the UPS fellow so arranged to meet him in town at the UPS store to get my new DInc2 from Asurion. Had some time to kill so I did some stuff and just happened to be drawn into a small satellite Verizon store. You know the ones...pay your bill, buy stuff, but no working phone models. I rarely go in to this store. Why? No phones to play with, I pay my bill through my phone, and accessories are way too expensive there. But, I went in anyway.

After being immediately swooped upon, I asked if they had any working phones yet. The guy says they only have a Thunderbolt. Hmmm...cool. I tell him my plans to upgrade, but that I may wait for 4g to come to our area. He said that we do, in fact, have 4g and that they had a deal going. So, to make the trip around the barn shorter, I got my TBolt. It was a killer deal and everyone is happy. Especially my sis, who will get the DInc2 and me who has 4g he didn't know about and a brand new TBolt for 125 clams...plus tax and an Otterbox for 1/2 price.:cool::D:-$

Congratulations, I hope you like your TB as much as I like mine.
