Adware/Malware on new S5

Hello,

I'm posting here as I'm at my wits end about adware on my phone.

The problem started about two weeks ago on my original S5. I would get popups/redirects usually once or twice a day, mostly from sites that started with 'us.' and ended in '.xyz', but there was one that tried to claim was my network provider. I had no idea where any of this had come from, I consider myself a very safe person when it comes to strange apps and links and won't download anything suspicious.

After trying tons of antivirus apps and trying to scan my phone via my computer (nothing was found), hard resetting my router, and even factory resetting, the problem persisted. I gave up and got a new phone. Another S5. And the problem persists. When I check my website data list, I'm seeing ad websites like fra1-ib.adnxs.com despite me not visiting them.

It doesn't seem to be infecting either of the laptops used in my household, but I'm the only one that uses the internet on their phone to know if the problem is just with me.

Does this mean my router is infected? I checked my IP and DNS and both seem to be from my ISP according to Google. I'm just at a complete loss about what to do.

I'd really appreciate some help, it's making me miserable! I don't know how dangerous this is and it worries me. I'm not too educated on android in comparison to Windows so I apologise if I'm just horribly dense, but would appreciate any advice or guidance and can supply any details you might need to help me.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums. Sorry about the delay. Have you tried clearing your browser data in settings>apps>browser>clear data?
Are you using the stock browser app from Samsung?

Hello and thank you!
It's no problem, thanks for replying.
I'm using the stock browser and have tried clearing the data. It just keeps coming back.
It's a brand new phone, I only got it yesterday, so I have no idea how or why.

Perhaps a different browser app?

Wow! That's very strange behavior. It sound like you're being spammed by your own service provider or something that they've pre-installed.

Who is your service provider?

Does the same thing happen if you install/use the Chrome browser?
