After 4.3 upgrade: S3 loses 3g data network

Dear experts!

I performed the update to android 4.3 after it became available and I sincerely regret it.

Now my 3G connection drops periodically (maybe every 10 minutes on average) and the toggle switch in the dropdown is gone too. I somehow found a quick fix by using the app "Data Connection Fix", but this can't be a permanent solution (after an hour of running the app reports about 32 connection fixes as of now).

I already reset the APN settings, I set the network mode to CDMA only (previously I had a next to perfect 3G reception in my home). Now I ran out of ideas.

Hope someone here has a solution, this is very annoying issue.

Try a factory reset and see if that helps. If it doesn't, contact the carrier and see if they have a fix for you.

You have a 3rd party app installed that is responsible for that icon. If I didn't know better I'd say it was some kind of data guard app (to prevent you from going over your mobile data limit).

You could boot up in Safe mode to be sure.
