After a week with the Nexus 7 I am sending it back

I am getting my LTE version tomorrow and will post an update. My 32GB Wi-Fi will probably go up for sale soon thereafter.

For comparison I've had the hp touch pad, running webOS and android, and the iPad2 from the wife. The nexus 7 is much better than both.

I personally love the soft touch back. I love the 7 inch form factor. I like the bezels on the side as it comes in very handy when watching videos or espn in landscape mode or in playing landscape oriented games. The screen is amazing.

Things I'm not crazy about. The touch screen tends to be picky at times especially when typing as a lot of key presses are not picked up. The battery life could be better as sometimes it drains without a reason even with everything turned off. And finally android still doesn't have optimized tablet apps. But that's not the nexus 7's fault

Bottom line for the price of this thing I think it's well worth it.

In the Play Store choose " Designed for Tablets". Android has plenty of apps designed/optimized for tablets.

Sent from my 2nd Generation Nexus 7.

I agree that the screen is very good. The battery life also sucks, compared to an iPad.
My problem with the device is that it doesn't really feel premium (which is understandable for the price). I would prefer to pay double the money and get a premium quality device..

I don't own a Nexus 7 anymore because I have the Note 3, but when I did have one I thought that it was one if the best devices that I had owned for the money. I don't remember the battery life being bad. But the overall experience with it was near perfect. The size is impeccable. Easy to hold in one hand and because of the gesture typing, it was a lot more convenient to hold and type while lying in bed. Reading books, playing games, watching movies, everything seemed more comfortable with he Nexus 7. The display was very good. I had no complaints. If I hadn't decided to get the Note 3 I would have still owned the Nexus 7.

Sent from the Samsung Galaxy Note 3...yeah, it's spectacular.

The Nexus 7 is a great device, especially for the price. My only issue with it is that I have had a couple with some light bleed. I'm getting ready to do an RMA on an LTE version and see if the next one is any better.

Me too, my only real issue is the lightbleed at the top of the screen when in portrait mode. It washes out the notification area slightly. Overall not a big deal, but it would be nice if it wasn't there.

Yup. That's the only real issue I have. I have the LTE one, and it has some bleed on the left side. Which is weird, because I had two wifi ones and they both had it at top like you're talking about. I also have a Nexus 5 that has light bleed on the left side where the volume rocker is and in the upper left hand corner. Again, only issue with this phone. I wish the QC was a little bit better. Otherwise these are the perfect electronics for me.

The first one I bought had such atrocious light bleed it was almost funny. The light bleed went all the way to the center of the screen almost all the way around. The one I have now (and settled on) just has a little bit as decribed.
I think the majority of n7's have lightbleed, however not all of them as the display models that I checked in best buy and staples seemed to be fine. I'm not sure though because with the fluorescent lighting in the stores maybe it is hard to detect? It's definitely noticable at home though.
