I have a similar issue that started immediately after the gingerbread update. I contact VZW and went thought the standard, reset/wipe .. During the first boot, the authentication app opened and when i initiated the authentication, the screen went dark after the call was enabled. Another call to VZW who sent a replacement - same issue out of the box, but what was odd was that the replacement didn't come pre-installed with gingerbread. I find the display issue to be hit or miss (mostly miss) and the phone will correctly work about 40% of the time. Another call to VZW tier 3 support who claims they have no knowledge of these types of issues with the phones. So, per protocol, I am being shipped a 3rd droid 2, i.e. the definition of insanity is doing the same thing the same way again and again, and expecting a different outcome.
I also noticed texting isssues, and bluetooth problems with my vehicle's bluetooth system .. The first and sometimes the second call after it first links will result in an immediate call disconnect, sometime prior to the call completing. This did not occur prior to the upgrade.
