After installing wifi tethering I can no longer connect to wifi

I just recently rooted my phone and installed wifi tethering. Now I can no longer connect to wifi on my own phone only 3g. Is this normal? Does it only show 3g symbol on the top of the phone while it is still connected to wifi? Help ease my mind. This is driving me nuts. I am running kernel version 2.6.35.7_ZedomaxEpicTouchKernelv3-g165267b-dirty.

This is a bug that creept into Wireless Tether starting with beta 10 (and experimental 111). The only way to get wifi back is to reboot. I went back to beta 9 and it works fine.
