Aftermarket charger

So, I was looking on Amazon for a new charger because mine was bent on the tip where it plugs into the phone. l read that I need a 2 amp charger to replicate the same charge time as my OEM charger. Does the cable have anything to do with it?

My wall adapter works fine it's just the USB cable. Do I need to get a specific USB cable for 2 amp charging or will any work?

No the cable shouldn't have any bearing on the amps going thru. Sure you want a good USB cable but the wall adapter is controlling the amps.

Actually, some USB cables are not designed to accept 2-amp current, so I'd recommend getting either a Samsung, Verizon or other cable that is verified to carry that amperage. I've had charging failures using generic USB cables.

I bought a 2amp charger set at Walmart. A wall plug adapter, car charger adapter and the USB cord for less than $20. It works great!

Never had any problems using generic cables. Not to say you can't but, never have. I buy all my cables from Monoprice and they seem to be of excellent quality. Maybe that makes a difference.

Monoprice are pretty decent quality considering the price, and work great.

The issue is some generic cables won't support 2a charging. If you buy a good quality generic then you will be fine.

My point was to verify that the cable will accept the amperage; nothing more. Do you think doing so is a bad idea?
